The Cuvee Lucie 45 – Chateau La Tour Figeac is a rare and exceptional expression of old-vine Merlot from a single, prestigious plot in Saint-Émilion. This limited-production wine showcases the incredible depth and elegance achievable through meticulous biodynamic farming and a pure focus on terroir.
Château La Tour Figeac, a distinguished Grand Cru Classé estate, is enviably situated on the gravelly soils bordering Pomerol and its famous namesake, Château Figeac. Under the stewardship of the Otto Rettenmaier family since 1973, the property has become a leader in organic and biodynamic viticulture in Bordeaux. This commitment results in wines of remarkable purity and character that beautifully reflect their unique location.
In the glass, the wine presents a deep, intense garnet color, releasing complex aromas of ripe black plum, cassis, and violet, intertwined with notes of truffle and sweet spice. The palate is rich and concentrated, yet remarkably balanced, with velvety tannins and a core of dark chocolate, blackberry, and earthy minerality. Its finish is exceptionally long and sophisticated, promising excellent aging potential.
To fully appreciate its complexity, serve this wine at a temperature of 16-18°C (60-65°F) after decanting for at least an hour. It pairs magnificently with classic dishes such as roasted leg of lamb, pan-seared duck breast with a cherry reduction, or a rich mushroom risotto.
