The Condado de Haza Alenza stands as a monumental expression of Ribera del Duero, representing the pinnacle of the estate’s traditional winemaking. Crafted only in exceptional vintages, this Gran Reserva showcases the immense power and age-worthy elegance of the Tempranillo grape from a single, prestigious vineyard.
Condado de Haza is a flagship estate of the iconic Familia Fernández Rivera, founded by the legendary winemaker Alejandro Fernández. Inspired by the great châteaux of Bordeaux, the winery is uniquely built into a hillside surrounded by its own vines, pioneering a gravity-fed system in the region. The producer is celebrated for creating powerful, structured, and long-lived wines exclusively from 100% Tempranillo.
In the glass, the wine reveals a deep garnet color with developing brick-red hues at the rim. The nose is profoundly complex, offering an intricate bouquet of dried black cherry, plum, well-worn leather, cedar, and hints of sweet spice and tobacco. On the palate, it is full-bodied, powerful yet velvety, with beautifully resolved tannins and a persistent, savory finish that echoes its mature fruit and earthy undertones.
For the optimal tasting experience, serve the Condado de Haza Alenza at 16-18°C (60-65°F), allowing it to decant for at least an hour before serving. It is an exceptional partner for rich, hearty dishes such as roast lamb, grilled venison, or aged Manchego cheese.
