The Condado de Haza is a benchmark red wine from Spain’s prestigious Ribera del Duero, offering a powerful and elegant expression of the Tempranillo grape. It consistently delivers the classic structure and aging potential that has made the region famous worldwide.
The Condado de Haza winery was established by the legendary Alejandro Fernández of the Familia Fernández Rivera group, a true pioneer of modern Ribera del Duero. The estate is distinctive for its Bordeaux-style “château” model, where 200 hectares of Tempranillo vineyards directly surround the winery. This focus on estate-grown fruit solidifies their reputation for producing consistently high-quality, terroir-driven wines.
In the glass, the wine displays a deep ruby-garnet color with violet reflections. The nose is complex, revealing aromas of ripe black cherry and plum, intertwined with notes of sweet spice, leather, and a hint of licorice. On the palate, it is full-bodied and well-structured, with firm tannins and a long, persistent finish dominated by dark fruit and subtle oak.
For optimal enjoyment, serve this wine at a temperature of 16-18°C (60-65°F). Its robust character makes it an ideal companion for roasted lamb, grilled steaks, game dishes, and aged hard cheeses.
