The Patriarche – Gevrey Chambertin Les Corbeaux is a classic expression of powerful and structured Pinot Noir from a prestigious Premier Cru vineyard in Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits. This wine showcases the characteristic depth, complexity, and aging potential for which this celebrated appellation is known.
Founded in 1780, Patriarche Père et Fils is one of Burgundy’s oldest and largest négociant houses, renowned for its extensive, historic cellars in the heart of Beaune. The house has built a global reputation for producing a wide portfolio of wines that consistently represent their respective terroirs. As a significant and established player in the industry, Patriarche offers classic and accessible expressions from numerous esteemed appellations across the region.
In the glass, the wine displays a brilliant, medium ruby hue that can deepen with age. The nose is complex and inviting, offering a bouquet of red and black cherry, sous-bois (forest floor), and subtle hints of spice from well-integrated oak. On the palate, it reveals a firm tannic structure and vibrant acidity, carrying flavors of dark fruit, earth, and a savory minerality through to a long, persistent finish.
For an optimal tasting experience, serve this Gevrey-Chambertin slightly chilled at approximately 16-18°C (60-65°F). It is an excellent companion for robust dishes such as roasted game birds, beef bourguignon, mushroom-based recipes, or aged, hard cheeses.
